This week, I had Shermin Langhoff and Özcan Mutlu in the studio to talk about the American premieres of Klassentreffen (Class Reunion)  – The 2nd Generation and Ferienlager (Holiday Camp) – The 3rd Generation, put out and an by the Ballhaus Naunystrasse Theater of Berlin.  As the artistic director, Shermin had some very insightful and informative things to say about turning experience into art. The shows reflect on Turkish migration in Germany Both shows are classified as documentary “migrant theater”, meaning (this here is a bit of a mouthful –>) the people who perform in the shows are the people whose experience’s the shows are about.  Özcan, who is a performer in Klassentreffen – The 2nd Generation as well as a prominent Green party politician in Germany, also had some interesting personal reflections on the experience of performing in Klassentreffen.  The shows will be taking place at 9th Space at PS 122, 150 1st Avenue (at 9th Street).

Ferienlager – The 3rd Generation / November 17 & 18 / 8 pm / free performances

Klassentreffen – The 2nd Generation / November 20 & 21 / 8 pm / free performances
